About
Hi there, my name is Kristen. I started this blog when I was a single, solo-traveler in my first year of college, and have since graduated with my Bachelors + Masters, married, and have my first child.
In undergrad I developed my own major, which I titled Nutritional Health Psychology, and then went on to receive my Masters in Integrative Wellness. I have had held a consistent joy in spending time exploring + marveling in God’s creation, and then documenting it through words + photographs.
I created this blog to give others a glimpse into my heart for experiencing whole body wellness + exploring the world + exalting the Word.
Experience whole-body Wellness: I believe that the body is a cohesive unit, and setting intention + focus on improving one part of the being (mind, physical body, soul) will in turn have a positive impact on the others. Through nutritional health psychology, I aim to study the links between physical + mental health, and how various foods + exercise affect an individual’s mood + behavior. I am also entranced with the idea of holistic nutrition as a means of using natural healing remedies in place of prescription medications for both mental + physical pains or illnesses. In addition to these two realms, one's social interactions, spiritual grounding, sleep quality, stress management, and surroundings in the environment play paramount roles in impacting wellness.
Explore the World: I have always loved to travel to new places I have never been, and spend every second I possibly could being outdoors + surrounded by nature. In 2010, my summer trip to Yosemite + Sequoia sparked a profound appreciation for (and obsession with) our National Parks, which remain some of my favorite places to invest my time + money. Traveling to various places around the United States + further into the world has fed into my ultimate desire of experiencing God’s creation, not only by spending time in nature, but also with the individuals I come into contact with. Through this exploration of the physical world, a new fondness for various cultures has formed. I continually seek out opportunities where I can learn more about other people around the world + encounter ways of living that are unique from my own.
Exalt the Word: Above all else, I seek to glorify God in + through everything that I do. It is impossible for us to experience a single moment that He is not already a part of. He is interwoven into every aspect of our lives + the world around us. I see God through the shapes of rock canyons, I hear Him in the variety of individuals' laughs + dialects, I feel Him through the warmth of the sun. I understand more about God through learning about us as humans—our genetic make-up, our thoughts, our behaviors, our motivations. With a focus on health + wellness, travel + nature, God is present through it all. It is amazing that I can pursue my passions in these areas + still be able to learn more about Him + ultimately glorify Him through it.
